Fun Family Phonics
With the help of Detective Dave, children will discover the wonderful enjoyment of reading as they hunt for phonetic clues in the world around them. Fun Family Phonics is a phonics program written by Muriel Endersby. We begin to introduce children to the world of phonics in the 3 year old program by playing fun games that help them to recognize that letters make sounds and that there are letters in their name. In the 4 year old program, we introduce the children to Detective Dave and his family, the Fun Family. It is here that the children learn the letters of the alphabet, the sounds they make and how to print them. By the end of the year, children are ready to begin reading 3 letter words.
The Fun Family Phonics program is taught on Mondays in the 4 year old preschool program and the childcare program.
